MANUSHANA NEE?
We
are also moving to another dimension amid this pandemic where everybody has
started to rely on the internet by giving it the most significant position for
livelihood. Online marketing is skyrocketing and the dealings are made over
online as a cause of this worldwide pandemic.
Although
we pitch on to new mediums for our livelihood, our perceptions and the beliefs
seem to be immobile and it has become difficult to comprehend and adapt to the
changes and innovations made in any matter. But beyond that, we are often
reminded with the concept called humanity which most of the times we are
failing to witness on certain occasions – we still hang over the beliefs,
values and stereotypes of our ancestors or our elders and the fellow societal
beings who still settle as sediments. The reliability and the connection we
share with the mentioned speaks of how we act in the present world.
Earlier,
it was not acceptable to give a physically impaired girl a chance to sing in a
concert, a woman to pursue any masculine jobs if she aims for, any widow/
widower to remarry, a transgender to be married, a black-skinned guy to be the
main role in a movie, a stout women to cast in a lingerie advertisement, a man
or a woman to admit his/her sexual orientation and so on.
But
why? Or maybe, why not?
If
you ask those who were affected by these stereotypes made, I am certain that
their experience cannot be easily verbalized. Later came this concept
called “Humanity” like a hero. This term has been used and misused by so many
people at so many times and has even lifted a lot of people.
This
concept has even triggered people to go easy with something called the death
penalty that exhibits that no life is to be put under trouble or harm or any
sort of violence, be it physical, verbal or mental. Even if you have any
designated position behind your name, you are said to cling on with something called
humanity. But is that the state everywhere even in well-performing countries or
nations?
The
answer is a big NO.
The
protests for George Floyd have still not settled with some ongoing hashtag
protests over online and again, once again we witness a similar incident where a Brazilian
cop was found standing over a black woman’s neck today as reported by Daily
Mail. And what was the punishment? Suspension, which I guess will work under
the terms of “humanity” for the inhumane act by the cops.
THERE
ARE ALREADY ENOUGH HASHTAGS, AND NOW THIS HASHTAG WILL BE CIRCULATED AS USUAL.
ALRIGHT,
WHAT ELSE COULD BE DONE?
